The Humor of the Digger.

LAST ISSUE __OF 'AUSSIE.' .

I recently saw a Staff Officer passing along the Beaumont-Charleroi road on horseback. It was obvious that the only riding he had previously done was between wheels, and he rose jerkily and fell heavily with a "God-help-the-poor-sailors-at-sea-a-night-like-this!" expression on his face, never hitting the same place on the horse twice.  "I'll bet that bloke never learnt to ride in Gippsland!' said a Digger to his cobber. "You'd be betting on a cert," replied the cobber. "The only experience he ever had with horses was breaking in rocking horses for Foy and Gibson's toy department." — John Arrol.
