QUEENSLANDERS' BILLIES

COINCIDENCE RECORDED.

How two billies, packed with Christmas presents and despatched by Laura Bond, of Brisbane, Queensland, were received by two brothers at the front is related in letters received by Mrs. M. A. Burbidge, of 6 Bent street, Moonee Ponds, from her two sons.

Dating their letters from Heliopolis, December 26, Drivers R. J. and L. R. Burbidge write that their Christmas dinner in camp included everything that could be wished for. After dinner the soldiers were presented with the Christmas billies, as well as gifts from the Australian Red Cross Society. The billies sent by the Queensland woman were much appreciated, and the men were about to write their thanks to her.

The greeting accompanying the gifts was as under:—"To our unknown soldier boy, in the hope that this will act as a little reminder to him, should he feel homesick on Christmas Day, that he has many more friends than he ever dreamt of. They are only the tiniest whisper of what we feel in our hearts for our brave boys at the front."
