Gnr. E. J. Davies left Australia with the 1st Siege Train Brigade in July, 1915. Writing from Belgium on 26th April last to his mother, Mrs. R. A. Davies, 107 Steele street, Moonee Ponds, he says that the German "pushed" had been most unpleasant, but at last the enemy was under control. It was a pitiful sight to see hundreds of civilians rendered homeless and forced to sleep in barns. Lately "Fritz" had been losing many aeroplanes, and it was a fine sight to seee them rushing to earth.
