Another and a younger member of the club [Essendon Harriers], in G. Eaglesham, is at present in France, and well. Eaglesham is a hardened campaigner, having been right through Gallipoli before going to France. Quite recently he acted as bomber to six infantrymen with bayonets, on an excursion across No Man's Land. The party trod on an alarm wire, which rang a bell in the enemy trenches. They barely had time to crouch in a shell hole before a flare went up and a searchlight played on the spot. After lying low for an hour six Germans were discerned on a similar excursion. Eaglesham waited until they were a chain or so away, and then threw; three only got away.

ESSENDON HARRIERS MEET
Two members of the Essendon Harriers, in Frank Davies and W. G. Eaglesham, much to the surprise of each, met on a Clyde steamer at Glasgow. During his stay in Glasgow the latter, who has been on service over three years, attended a sports meeting at the famous Ibrox Park, where his father remembers having seen A. A. Shrubb break world's records 18 years ago.
