Australian Red Cross Wounded and Missing Enquiries Bureau Correspondence.

He and witness were school mates and pals, and witness told me his name was Eddie.  Witness saw him on April 25 about one mile inland from the landing when he went out to the left with Lieut Dangerfield, who came back with three out of about 30 men, and told witness that most of his men had been killed as they charged the men of two big guns which they went out to silence, but they were driven back. Lieut Dangerfield has since been killed.

About 5ft 10 or 11, stout, fair, clean shaven, came from North Fitzroy, Melbourne.  Athletic.

Witness states that orders were given to charge at Gaba Tepe to about fifty men of mixed Battalions and companies on extreme right of 2nd ridge.  Another order to retire was given, when only about twenty came back from the charge.  Edgley was amongst those missing.  Knew him well - was Section commander of the 7th Section, No 2 Platoon of A Coy of the 6th Battalion.

Edgley came from Fitzroy, Victoria - was a big fellow, well-built, age about 20/21 - known as Eddy.  Was very popular, always singing ragtimes.
