Amongst the list of fallen soldiers at the seat of war in the Dardanelles we regret to see the name of Private Abraham Evans, who had enlisted at Ascot Vale, Victoria, where his mother now resides. Private Evans was for six years a resident of this district, being employed at the Gladstone Hotel for some, and was for about four years with Mr. C. J. Nash, when that gentleman resided at "Elysium," Cosgrove. Private Evans joined the Dookie branch of the Australian Natives' Association while  here, and he was still a member at the time of his death. He was also a prominent player and enthusiastic member of the Dookie Football Club for two or three years.
