PEDESTRIAN AND PATRIOT
One of the must promising pedestrians of a few seasons back was Corporal Victor Green, who is now at the front with the Australian Forces. He won a number of races at Gurney's Flemington running grounds, and sprinting handicaps at Shepparton, Frankston, Paynesville and other Victorian centres.
Corporal Green, who is 26 years of age, enlisted at Queenscliff over a year ago, and received his first stripe after two months' training, and a month later earned the gunlayer's badge. He is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Green, of Flemington, and a nephew of Constable J. Kelly, officer in charge of Marong police station.
