Private Wm. C. Hill.
of A. Co., 7th Battalion, killed in action at the Dardanelles, was the third son of Captain and Mrs. H. E. Hill, M'Carron-parade, Essendon. He joined the First Australian Imperial Force in August last, and prior to enlisting was in the employ of the Melbourne Steamship Co.

Witness states that he knew the man in the 7th Btn. There is in his opinion no doubt that he was at the landing and that he took part in the fighting. Full inquiries were made in the Btn a few days later but no definite information was obtained as to what became of him.

Witness knew a man in A Co named Hill who was made a Cpl. He was with his coy at Cape Helles. We made an advance there soon after the landing. Witness saw him just before that advance but did not see him afterwards. On making inquiries at the time witness was informed that Hill had been killed.
