Mr. V. Ward, second son of Mr. James Ward, of South street (the latter a native of Moonee Ponds) has passed his examination for the Army Medical Corps, and has gone into camp. He is an employee of Messrs. Sands and McDougall, and was given an enthusiastic "send-off” by the firm and his fellow employees, who presented him with a wristlet watch and a morocco money belt. The firm have promised to keep his position open for him, and to give him the benefit of any promotion that may be accruing. Another son of Mr. Ward, viz., Mr. N. F. Ward is at present at the front with the engineers.

Mr J. Ward, J. P., of South street, Ascot Vale, has received from one of his sons, Private Ward, at the front, an interesting programme of the memorial service for the late Earl Kitchener, held at Cairo; also a, copy of "The Egyptian Mail" newspaper, containing a lengthy report of the same.
