Stanley was born in Warracknabeal, and was recorded in the 1914 Electoral Roll at Rainbow, working as a wheelwright.  There is no obvious connection to the local area in his file, but on the same page on his embarkation roll was a local man named Clive Nathaniel Buckler, of Gladstone St, Moonee Ponds. It appears likely that Buckler took Booley along to the farewell at the Essendon Town Hall (see link below).  Having Booley's name included in the list published in the Essendon Gazette assured that his name was also include on the Essendon Town Hall board and the Essendon Gazette Roll of Honour.
