Dearest Girl,

I am sending you a few photos of the School work etc which have been taken down here and which will show you something about the ‘game’. Of course, Sweetheart, we wear any “togs’ we like down here and that accounts for the many peculiar ‘turn-outs’. This represents one part of the School. Jimmy Taylor is marked with a __. Yours X. Ern.

Lindy Dear,

This is a view of the Camp here we sleep; we have our meals in a large building about 500 yards down further. My tent is marked so you can look at it sometimes when you have 20 minutes to spare. I meant 20 seconds. No ta-ta, Darling Girl and I will drop you a line later. Yours always, xxxxxx Ern.

Dearest Girl,

This was snapped last Sunday, before we moved off to Mornington. ‘Me’ third from this end. Hope you don’t mind receiving postcards from this show. Bye Bye, Darling L. Yours ever, Ern. Xxx

Dearest “Billy”,

This was snapped on day at ‘Smoke O’ and we had just been scampering though the scrub playing ‘Soldiers” The sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see very well. Mr Parker is next on my left. We look a surly lot, don’t we Dearest? Everything is going good just now; we have been digging trenches all day and feel a bit tired and sleepy.  Yours Ern x

Dearest Lindy,

This is a group of the Staff. ‘Strangy’ is in the front row kneeling, and Lenton is in the second back row with his arm bent out. ‘Yours trul’ is chucking a quiet case. Yours always, Ern.
