At BULLECOURT on 11th April 1917 he rallied a party of bombers and
though badly wounded himself remained at his post in the HINDENBURG
LINE till the last, enabling many men to retire successfully.

Private George Richard Arndell, son of Mr. George Stephen Arndell, of 178 McCracken street, Essendon, has been presented with the Military Medal. He was wounded at Bullecourt in April, 1917, and returned to Australia in December.
