Private G. Barnard (one of the Moonee Ponds boys) writes from Egypt: '' I noticed in the 'Gazette,' which was kindly sent to me by one of my friends a roil of honour, in which I was proud to see my name. We are getting plenty of work over here, and we are all looking well and are also fairly well fed. All the boys who are here with us are anxious to get to the front, to avenge our friends who have made an everlasting name for themselves, as we also hope to make before leaving the Dardanelles. The ones who have fallen have made it far easier for us, so I think we will all try to make the best of it. There is one thing we miss and that is the Whirly Whirls, which we are all anxious to see again when we arrive back in Melbourne."
