Broadbent was in A Co.  He was quite a boy, only  about 20 and had not been in the Bn long.  This was his first time in the line so he probably came over with the 10th Reinforcements who arrived in July 1918.  He was killed instantaneously towards the end of Sept by one of our own shells which fell at short range and went tight through his back.  i was close to him at the time and saw it all.  This happened quite near Bellenglise (nort of St Quentin) and Broadbent was buried close to where he was killed between the front and support lines.  I saw a cross that was put up over him.
