Pte Burns went into training in England and was still there when the Armistice came into effect.  He was subsequently posted to duty in France, and remained there for most of 1919, returning to Australian in early 1920.    Burns re-enlisted in 1939 as VX52129.   He served in the Middle East, but was discharged in 1942 after  being wounded in an accident with a firearm.
