ESSENDON MEN APPRECIATIVE
An Essendon resident who gave a parcel of goods to the Patriotic Fund
has received a letter from Sergeant G. F. Greig, formerly of Essendon, and
now on active service with the 7th Battalion First A.I.F. in Egypt. The writer
says: — "It was with great pleasure that by some strange chance our company
received, among other patriotic donations, some goods from the ladies of
Essendon, and on opening my parcel I was delighted to read your cheerful
message. Being a resident of the Essendon district myself, you can under
stand how highly I appreciate your present, and the peculiar coincidence
that made it fall into my hands. On behalf of the Essendon boys allow me
to heartily thank you and the other ladies in your district for the articles
sent, which will prove a great benefit to us, especially when we leave for the
firing line in Europe."
