Adrian Turner first enlisted on 2 August 1915, aged 19 and was assigned to the Z Coy, 4 Depot Bn at Seymour  and became a Company Staff Sergeant Major, serving as the Chief Clerk at Seymour.  On 10 April 1916 he joined the Orderly Room of the Isolation Camp at Ascot Vale.    He was discharged from there on 27 August 1918 in order to enlist in the AN&MF.   He enlisted the following day, and embarked from Sydney on the SS Melusia.  He arrived in Rabaul in late December 1918, and was taken on strength on 9 January 1919.  He worked with Department of Defence in Supplies until he returned to Australia and was discharged in Victoria on 16 October 1919.
