Yates' service record isn't clear about a promotion to corporal,
but a document in his B2455 (NAA) did indicate that he was
Acting Corporal on the date of a Medical Board at Lark Hill on
31 July 1917, so presumably the portrait was taken about that

Pte Kenneth Yates, returned to Australia on 25 Aug 1917. Kenneth Yates married Eva Annie Warren and they had 7 children. Kenneth died at Castlemaine on 29 Feb 1976. Eva Annie (Warren) Yates died at Cohuna 20 Jan 1981.
