Len. Cohen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cohen, of The Rendezvous, Puckle street, in a letter to his parents from Palestine, describes a little incident which took place between two drivers, which shows the utter disregard the boys have of being under fire. He writes:
"For the transport of wounded off the battlefield we use two-wheeled covered waggons drawn by four horses, the left side horse of each pair being ridden by one of the boys. One of the carts was going out for its load of wounded, when the driver on the rear horse, evidently thinking they weren't going fast enough, tried to urge on the front horse. The front driver didn't like this, so they dismounted and started to "sail into" one another: but were soon moved on by one of the sergeants. This occurred under shell, rifle and machine gun fire, and just about takes the cake for coolness."
