Falling In: Australians and 'Boy Conscription' 1911-1915, by John Barrett.  p 241  "In some cases the poor quality of training set the boys against it.  WGC (1913), Ascot Vale, dairyman's son and a ticket writer) hated marching around streets on Saturday afternoons."  From a questionnaire completed by WGC in 1978, in the possession of the author at the time of writing in 1979.  John Barrett's papers are now lodged at the National Library of Australia, and may include the questionnaires.
