Mrs. Cox, of St. James street, Moonee Ponds, has received word from the Defence Department that her son, Lt. W. J. Cox, is now a prisoner of war in Germany. He was taken prisoner at Bullecourt on April 11th last. He left Australia with the 2nd contingent in the 13th Batt. N.S.W. as a private, and gained his commission as lieutenant in August last. He was wounded once in the two years and seven months' active service. At Gallipoli he was shot in the right arm, but was not long off duty. He is a native of Essendon and was educated at St. Monica's school, and was employed for some time by his uncle, the late W. J. Cox, estate agent, Union road. Ascot Vale.
