PROMOTIONS ABROAD Mr. Wilmot Ira Stephens, who left Melbourne as sergeant in 9th Reinforcements of 5th Battalion, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He is the only son of Mr. W. Ira Stephens, editor of the "Victoria Government Gazette" and of Monowai, Maribyrnong road, Moonee Ponds. Prior to enlisting, Lieutenant Stephens was on the relieving staff of the Colonial Bank.

Intimation has been received by Mr. W. I. Stephens, "Monowai," Maribyrnong road, Moonee Ponds, that his son, Wilmot Ira Stephens, of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, late lieut. A.I.F., was admitted to hospital, United Kingdom, on 29th August, suffering from gunshot wound.
