Flemington-Kensington Church News, December 1917

Lieut Eric N Dewar, 4th Battery, Australian Field Artillery, resigned his commission in the Essendon Rifles and enlisted as a private in the AIF.  He sailed as 2nd Lieut with the 20th Reinforcements of the Australian Artillery on the 20th October 1916.  In England he was camped at Park House, Lark Hill and Woolwich.  He was shown through the arsenal at the latter place and saw munitions and guns of all calibres being manufactured.  The vastness of the concern was a source of wonder to him.  He went over to France in May 1917.  He there met W and J Topham whom he reports to be well.  He has gained his second star, on which we congratulate him.
