PASSCHENDAELE. 1917—October 1 to November 15 The 14th Battalion transport men could always be relied upon to get supplies of ammunition and rations to the fighting men, who could not have carried on without their assistance. The hostile barrages tried their courage and abilities as drivers on many occasions, but could not turn them back Cpl James Reid and Drivers E A Mattson, Benjamin Hardner (an original No 62), and R. L. S. ("Dooley") Dobson were prominent among them during this tour of duty.

L.-Cpl. A. L. S. Dobson (familiarly known as "Dooley" Dobson) has been congratulated by his commanding officer on his coolness, courage and resource between Yonnebeke (sic) and Broodsende, from 13th to 23rd October, 1917. He was promoted company Q.M.S. on 1st November, 1917. L.-Cpl. Dobson was gassed and wounded on 14th February, 1918
