The parents of Gunners E. and W. Exell, of Ascot Vale, have been notified that they are suffering from pleurisy. Both had been wounded at Bullecourt by a shell bursting and burying them in a dug out. They both have had 12 months' continuous service.

SONS OF A WOTTONIAN    

Among the service men at present [at Woot]ton-under-Edge on leave, are two Au[stralian] soldiers, nephews of Mr. Robert Exell of Coombe, where they are staying.... are the sons of Mr. William Exell, [a na]tive of Wotton-under-Edge, who [went] to Australia at the age of 18, and [who] resides at Melbourne. They joined [in] the early days of the war, and have 18 months' service in France. Both [belong] to the Australian artillery. These gallant Colonials were both [wound]ed at the battle of Bullecourt on .... last. The youngest, Gunner Ernest [Exell aged 21, was badly injured in the .... The other, Gunner William Exell, [when] carrying his brother out, was also .... injuries being to the hand. [This] however, was not known to Ernest [who was] was unconscious. Both were su..... taken to Boulogne hospital, though [neither] knew of the other's whereabouts, [although] only two wards apart. Eventually ... came to hospital at Weymouth, [and the] other to Brighton, though they were   unaware of each other's whereabouts, they met at Charfield station. The brothers, who return to [duty] Tuesday, are immensely pleased .... first visit to the scenes of their [father's] boyhood.

Gunner E. J. Exell. No. 1563, of 16 Middle street, Ascot Vale, has been wounded for the second time. He has been at the front nearly three years.
