2nd Australian Machine Gun Battalion  4483   Corporal Frank Lionel FITZPATRICK

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the attack at FRAMERVILLE near AMIENS on the 9th August, 1918.

Advancing with the 18th A I Bn on the afternoon under intense and concentrated machine gun fire, and whilst he was the special target of an anti-tank gun, Cpl Fitzpatrick went forward with another soldier and recovered the gun, tripod, etc, of a team that had been knocked out.  By getting this gun into position he materially assisted in strengthening the line.  During the whole of the advance this NCO showed great  courage and his example encouraged and inspired men nearby who had passed the objective and  .....[missing rest of citation]

FITZPATRICK-Mr and Mrs Fitzpatrick, of 28 Milverton street, Moonee Ponds, have received advice that their son,  Sergeant F L Fitzpatrick, 6th MG Coy has been awarded the Military Medal, for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance at Framerville near Amiens on  August 9. Sergeant Fitzpatrick enlisted in the AIF in July, 1915. He has been on active service in France since June 1916 and has been wounded once.
