I knew Casualty. He was a man about 5'8", well built, fair complexion, about 20 years of age, known as Bob. Casualty was on outpost duty at Flamerville. An H E shell exploded near Casualty killing him instantly. I did not see Casualty killed, but I found his body about 20 minutes later and carried him out. He had a small piece of shell in the back. He was buried at Flemerville Cemetery, and I erected a cross over his grave. -----------
I saw the body of Sergeant Bob Fouracre, who was a machine gun Sergeant of C Coy, after he was killed by a piece of shell in a shell hole at Frameville about 9 pm. We were in an outpost and he walked a little way away to a shell hole when we found him dead. When the doctor examined the body there was a very small hole in the back, so a small piece of shell must have penetrated the heart. he was buried in Framerville Cemetery. Sgt Bob Fouracre was about 5 ft 6 ins high, very fair, pleasant faced, about 25/26 years. Was very well liked by all the boys.
