2nd Aust Machine Gun Company 2578 Corporal Robert Thomas FRASER
During the advance East of HOOGE on the morning of 20th September, 1917, while passing through SANCTUARY WOOD to the front line Cpl FRASER and his party came under a heavy enemy barrage. Although wounded he organised his Section and lead them forward to their objective. He supervised the placing of five Vickers Guns and also two German guns. By his prompt action he was enabled to inflict heavy casualties on the enemy during a counter attack. Throughout the night his splendid example inspired the mean and although wounded in three places he refused to leave the line until all positions were consolidated.
