MILITARY MEDAL
Lance Corporal Harold Gasperino, 59th Battalion.
For initiative and leadership near VAUVILLERS, East of VILLERS-BRETONNEUX on 9th August 1918. When the three senior NCOs of his platoon became casualties he took charge, continued the attack, and by his skill and leadership and gallant example successfully carried two enemy machine gun positions which were holding up the advance. Throughout the operation he showed an utter disregard for his own safety.
