WASHED, UP BY THE SEA.

The following is a copy of a note that was enclosed in a bottle and thrown overboard, and which was subsequently picked up off the coast of West Australia, and which was forwarded to Mrs. Gay, in accordance with the wishes of Private S. A. Gay, of Lorne street, Moonee Ponds:

 

(Copy.) I, the undersigned, picked this note up on the sea beach at Rockingham, West Australia, corked up in a bottle.

The paper, which contained the following was enclosed in the bottle:

 

"Mid Ocean, 11th of the 6th Batt.

Mrs S A Gay, of Albury (formerly of Lorne street, Moonee Ponds), has been informed that her husband is in hospital suffering from neurasthenia.
