Recommendation for Military Medal

38th Battalion AIF  2319 Private John GRANT

Near WARNETON, during a raid on the enemy trenches on 10th February 1918, he acted as Scout and Runner.

The excellence of his work, both as scout prior to the raid and as Scout and Runner during the raid, won the approval of all ranks, and his coolness and resource in difficult circumstances inspired his comrades with confidence.  He carried back messages on several occasions when he had to pass through the enemy barrage and throughout was an example of courage and determination.  Strength of Raiding Party - 9 Officers and 195 Other Ranks.
