Lieut. Fred and Frank Tubb, Leslie Grant, E. Jones, H. Kong Meng, accepted volunteers of the Expeditionary forces, left Longwood for the camp at Broadmeadows. Steps are being taken to farewell them before they depart for Europe.

p 108 Monday 11 August 1916

Lt Nixon is in charge of Number 7 Platoon and it is very weak, only being about half strength.  The Battalion is just about half strength and will be so until we get some more reinforcements.  The following NCOs and men compose No 7 Platoon.....

A number of Euroa district soldiers have returned, including Captain Frank Tubb, M.C. (brother of the late Major F. H. Tubb, V.C ), and Sergeant Leslie Grant, both of whom were officially welcomed and entertained at Longwood, Privates Leslie Gall, A. Thewlis (wounded three times), and Gerald Stedman.
