In Memoriam

HANSON.-In proud and loving memory of our

dear eldest son and brother, Sergeant Clarence

Hanson, 7th Battalion, killed in action, Nieppe

Forest, France, April 19, 1918.

He held a point of honour, the most advanced

post of all;

With brave men beside him, who had answered

their country's call.

Five times he was wounded, they told us;

But he still kept firing his gun;

He stuck to his post though requested to leave,

And the posthumous honour is what he received.

"Died with his face to the foe, trying others

to save!"

We could not have loved him so had he not been

bravest of brave. Anzac hero.

-(Inserted by his sorrowing parents, brothers,

and sisters.)
