EGYPT

"This is Llew mounted on his charger", taken by his brother Reg near the Pyramids, circa 1914-1915. Photo courtesy of  Brenda Noonan, granddaughter of Llew's brother, Reg Jones,

"This is Llew mounted on his charger, which I bet could be backed to win a donkey gallop.  You will

note the sand ridge in the rear; this is the beginning of the elevated ground on which the

Pyramids are built, while beneath this sand about 1/2 mile to the rear are being carried out vast

excavations of the ancient tombs etc which are yeilding much valuable information.  The

Pyramids are a little to the left of this photo".

Ray and Llew mounted on a couple of "old age pensioners" at the Sphinx, circa March 1915.

The reverse of the above photo, taken by Reg Jones.

"This photo shows as you will see the Sphinx and the two pyramids which appear small because they are 1/2 mile away.  Ray & Llew are mounted on Camels at the base of the Sphinx  & I purposely had them close to the Sphinx so that you would get some idea of its size;  you will note the length of body which is now worn with age then again beneath the sand on which they ae standing extent the paws for a distance of 50 ft."
