Mr. E. A Head, of Robinson street, Moonee Ponds, wishes us to state that his son, No. 1563, Cpl. Harry Head, is quite well. Owing to his photo being shown at the picture theatre an impression seems to have got abroad that the young fellow has been killed. Happily this is untrue, and his friends will be glad to learn that he is safe.

Mr. E. A. Head, of 26 Robinson [street], Moonee Ponds, has been notified that [his] son, Cpl. Harold Head, is being [invalided] back to Australia. He left in February 1915, in the 7th Batt., and has two [bro]thers, Morriss and Arthur, overseas [with] the A.I.F.

A Welcome Home plain and fancy dress social will be tendered to Corporal H. Head at the Town Hall, Moonee Ponds, on Saturday, 3rd November, at 8 p.m. The admission is 1s 6d and there will be various prizes.

WELCOME HOME.

CORPORAL H. HEAD ENTERTAINED.

 

At the Essendon Town Hall on Saturday evening, 3rd inst., a large gathering assembled to welcome Corporal H. Head, who has returned from the front. The guest of honour and his parents were, on arrival, received with applause. The welcome home speeches were delivered by Cr. Goldsworthy, supported by Mr. T. Ryan. Both speakers congratulated Cpl Head on his return to his native land, also to the City of Essendon.

 

Cpl. Head, on rising to respond, was loudly cheered, and in the course of his remarks, thanked the speakers, committee and friends for the warm welcome home tendered to him, also for the kind expressions and good wishes conveyed to him.

 

The competition for the various prizes was very keen, and the judges, Mesdames' Kinnear and Moore and Cr. Goldsworthy, awarded the prizes as follows:-Best dressed lady. "Gainsborough Lady," Mrs. Logan; best dressed gentleman. "Cavalier," Miss McBain; most original lady, "Lingerie Fine," Miss O. Limb; most original gentleman, "Dad," Mrs. Smith; best sustained character, "Dan," Lt. Gill. Vocal and elocutionary items were rendered by Miss G. Limb, Mr. W. Elder, Mr. Prat and H. Campton. The committee ladies kindly provided and served the refreshments.
