ESSENDON POLICE COURT

Drill Cases

Three cases of lads who were short in their drill were brought George Herweg, Leo Muller and Bernard Shaw. The cases were all adjourned for 8 weeks so as to allow of the drill be made up.

Private T. G. Herweg, writing to his brother,  "Dollar," of Moonee Ponds, describes the good time and the interesting places he saw while on leave in London. He states he never felt better in his life. He has been away 2½ years and hopes to be back before the third year is up. He prophesies terrible slaughter this year. He has had plenty of work since he has been in France, and is becoming quite proficient in gunnery. It is quite probable that he will soon receive a commission.
