Private Albert E. Narracott, son of   Mr. A H Narracott, of Maribyrnong   road, and his mate, Private Nicol Brickford, of Ravenswood, near Bendigo, were amongst the 60 Colonials who made the first Victorian raid in France in June, which turned out so successfully. The lot of them returned, bringing in six German prisoners and leaving 15 dead in the trench attacked. Amongst the souvenirs received by Private Narracott were a German prayer book, a Turkish bullet and case; and some coins, all of which he has sent out to his people in Moonee Ponds. The raiding party were much cheered by their battalion when they got back, and General Birdwood shook hands with every one, and thanked them for their great piece of work.
