Corporal C. S. Straughair (wounded) is the eldest son of the late Mr. Robert Straughair, of Quarry Hills. Bendigo. On leaving school he went into business in Melbourne, and resided in Moonee Ponds for the last five years. His only brother, Private Jack Straughair, is serving with the Australian Forces.

STRAUGHAIR-BALL.

 

A very pretty wedding took place at the Moonee Ponds Baptist Church on 3rd June. The contracting parties were Corporal C. S. Straughair (late 14th Bat.) and Miss Alice Maud Ball, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ball, of "Anzac," Homer street, Moonee Ponds. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a white silk costume and hat, and carried a bridal bouquet. The bridesmaids were Miss D. Ball (sister of the bride) and little Thelma Wallis (niece of the bride), both of whom wore white silk dresses and carried the 14th Battalion colours -yellow and blue. Mr. G. Anderson, of Essendon, acted as best man. The reception was held at Kalimna Hall, where a very enjoyable evening was spent.
