Essendon Gazette 22 July 1915

Among the recruits of last week appears the name of Thomas W. Jones, an old pupil of the Flemington school.  He has played football and cricket with local teams, including the Congregational Church team, winning the batting average last year. Private Jones has for many years been employed by Messrs Vaughan, carriers, by whom he was given a good send-off.
