Born 2nd Oct 1896  Enlisted 27th Dec 1915

He was a clerk before the war but left his occupation to become a driver in the Artillery.  He was fighting at Messines and Ypres in 1917, and remained in the Somme Valley, fighting there from April 1918 until the signing of the armistice.
