To the Hon Lord Methuen

Governor Malta

Honourable Sir,

In ignorance of knowing whom to address I beg to be

Excused the liberty I have taken in addressing you, but

I am in deep distress over my son who was wounded at

the landing at Gallipoli on the Memorial 25th April, it is

reported he was put on board “The Mine Sweeper Reindeer”

on the following day, & since that no trace of him can

be found.  I feel he must have been landed at some

Hospital probably Malta.  If this letter may be forwarded

to the proper authorities to make enquiries of any

Hospital or if he should have died of his wounds, to see

if there is any record of him in either country.  I should

esteem it a great favour, as the suspense of his whereabouts

is most unbearable, his rank was

Pte E W Junier No 463

2nd Infantry  Brigade

7th Battalion AIF

Any information of him will be most thankfully received

by his broken-hearted mother, trusting I will get a reply

to this appeal

I beg to remain

respectfully yours

E Junier.

In Memoriam

JUNIER. -Whose death has been officially con-
firmed, previously reported wounded and missing,
Pte. Edward Wilfred (463, "Dolph"), youngest
beloved son of Mrs. Junier, 73 Hall street,
Moonee Ponds, and the late C. A. Junier, formerly
of Morwell, Gippsland, who fell at Gallipoli on the
25th April, 1915, loved brother of Ernest, Elsie
(Mrs. Fordred), Albert, Gus, and Ethel, aged 23
years.
Buried in a nameless grave
Laid aside with other brave,
His life for King and country gave -
My youngest son.
He answered to the Empire's call;
We ill could spare him, one and all,
And prayed God would not let him fall -
My dearly loved son.
But all should fight, and some must die,
He took his chance - my youngest son;
And I can only grieve and say -
Thy will be done.
I kept the home fire burning, but the lad I've
waited and yearned for will speak to me never
again.

JUNIER.-In loving memory of Private Edward
Wilfred ("Dolph"), who fell at Gallipoli the 25th
April, 1915, dearly beloved youngest son of
Mrs. Junier, 73 Hall street, Moonee Ponds,
and the late C. A. Junier, loved brother of Ernest,
Elsie (Mrs. Fordred), Albert, Gus, and Ethel.
To Thee, to Thee, O Father, I surrender
This earthly gift when'er I hear Thy call,
But let my death be swift, the pang be tender,
Yet like a soldier fall.
No cross, no crown.

JUNIER.— In loving memory of Pte. Edward Wil-
fred (Dolph), who fell at the landing at Gallipoli,
25th April, 1915, youngest beloved son of Mrs. Junier,
73 Hall street, Moonee Ponds.
You bravely marched to death that cruel
morning
With well feigned courage, though with eyes
tear-filled:
And in my bursting breast I felt the warnings
Of those dread missives with their burden— "killed."
Farewell, farewell, dear son of mine, for ever;
No, not for ever—death shall not prevail;
We'll meet again, pray God, ne'er more to sever,
When I have conquered death and passed the
veil.

He is not dead, he is just away."
