We received the following note from Sgt O W Keddie 4834
32nd Stationary Hospital, Boulogne
"Stewart was killed in the Sunken Road between Morchies and Lagnicourt about 2 or 3 pm in April about a week or 10 days after the fight at Beaumetz on the 24th March. He was in an old German dugout by the side of the road. Two shells came over and Stewart was instantly killed. L/Cpl W G Venville, of 16th Platoon buried him in the Sunken Road and have seen his grave

Keddie, Walter Oliver. Sergeant
Born 10th June 1887, he enlisted on the 7th August 1915, in the 57th Bn Infantry. He was wounded at Polygon Wood in 1917. Later he became ill and was discharged in 1918 as medically unfit. He had fought at the Somme, Beaumetz. Bullecourt, Polygon Wood, and Warneton. In civil life he was a teacher.
