Re Pte H Landon. In the first, he was slightly wounded and was about to have his wound dressed when another shell exploded near him and killed him. He was buried just behind the front line, not in a soldiers' cemetery. Lieut Latemen, Sergt Wade of the Battalion can give you any details concerning his relatives also the last mentioned was in the front line but did not witness his death. He was known to us as "Tibber". He was of average height, 5ft 8 in, slim, fair hair, loose limbed, blue eyes, pleasant features. 3816 Pte Harrop Landon, C Coy, 46th Battn AIF.
4549 Pte P McArdle C Coy, 46th Battn AIF France. London 14/5/18.
I knew Casualty. He was a man about 5'7", well built, dark complexion about 23 years of age, known as "Tipper". Casualty was holding the line at Zonnebeke. A trench Mortar shell exploded near Casualty mortally wounding him. He died two hours later. I was 5 yards away at the time the shell exploded, and I saw his body on a stretcher being carried out. I do not know where he was buried.

Two of Australia's best.
Time may soothe a broken heart.
Time may make a wound less sore,
But time can never stop the longing
For our dear ones gone before.
