I knew casualty. He was a man of medium build, about ft 10 ins in height, dark complexion about 26 years of age. Casualty was marching through Ypres at the head of a column when an H E shell landed amongst them killing casualty and four other, also wounding a number. I saw his body immediately afterwards. He was carried back to the Dressing Station at Lille Gates. I do not know where he was buried.

15, Sergeant Wm. Mackenzie Landon, dearly
loved eldest son of H and E Landon, Grantham
Street. Brunswick, affectionate brother of Har-
court and Carlyle, also of the late Private Har
rop, who was killed in action on the 1st Octo-
ber, a nephew of the late Captain Edward Lan-
don, R.A.M.C., and cousin of Colonel Landon,
Heavitree Park, Exeter, England. and the late
Sir Arthur Jermyn Landon, Majuba Hill, South
Africa.
