Citation for Military Cross
3rd Signal Troop Lieut William John (sic) LATHAM
For gallantry and judgement in handling the Signal Troop under very heavy shell fire on 19/4/17 through the day he did splendid work with the troop maintaining communication with front line and Division almost without a break even though lines continually had to be mended through being cut by shrapnel.
Although Latham was recommended for a Military Cross for the above action, it would appear that it was not approved, and he was Mentioned in Despatches instead. The only indication of an award in his B2455 is an occasional MD after his name.
