The 14th Platoon held the extreme right of the position, and some of our men brought in a number of wounded Germans— victims of the fighting of the previous day L/Cpl. F Wright was prominent in this humane work, making several trips far out into No Man's Land to bring in wounded enemies p 142

BATTLE OF BULLECOURT. 1917—April 11
14th Battalion Prisoners
Bullecourt was the only occasion in the whole war in which the Germans captured any considerable number of Australian prisoners They claimed 1300, and considering the large number of wounded in the six battalions engaged who had to be abandoned the claim may not be exaggerated. Among those of the 14th captured by the enemy were Lieuts. McCallum, Gower, McQuiggan, Lyon and Edmonds (the three former severely wounded); C.Q.M.S Leslie Guppy (Original), of B Company; L/Cpl. W. D. Howard (Original), of A Company, who co-operated with Capt. (then L/Cpl.) A. Jacka when he won the V.C on the Peninsula; Sgt. W. C Groves, of B Company (alleged by some to have been the youngest sergeant in the AI.F.); Platoon-Sgt. Stan Thomas (Original), of B Company; L/Cpl. R. A. Stephens, D Company runner, Sgt. A. C Dalitz, of D Company; L/Cpl. F. L. Wright (Original), of D Company; and Pte. "Tug" Patterson, the well-known athlete.

"Once again after what seems aged of waiting I find myself able to write to you. I really hope dearest that you have and are keeping well, as I am at present. Did you receive the other cards which I wrote to you, three I think it was? Dearie, do not worry or despair I am doing quite well and I think the time is not far distant when we both shall be doing your usual Sunday's walk together. I am working amongst the vegetables at present, "well the men work, I supervise" and the time passes fairly well. The weather is lovely and warm, what is it like over our way? I would like to be with you dear, what lovely times we could spend together. I hope all are well at 41, give my regards. How are Will and Steve, still getting good news of them I hope. Well dear, space will not allow me to write any more so say adieu. Postcard from Cpl F L Wright 512 Prinsoner of War, Kriegsgefangenengsendung, Germany 7.8.17
"I received a parcel of clothing, the boots were missing. It is most unfortunate as I am badly in need of boots otherwise I am tip top and quite well". Extract from postard received from man dated 22/4/18
