Private Neville Lovelock was given a send-off by the employees and firm of the District Co-Operative Stores at Yarram where he has been employed for some time. A presentation of an illuminated watch was made to Private N. Lovelock, who joined his brother, Ronald, in camp last week.

AN ANCIENT TEMPLE INTERESTS SOLDIERS. Sergeant Neville Lovelock, of Ascot Vale, writing from England, sends some interesting particulars regarding St. Mary's Anglican Church, Amesbury, and encloses extracts from letters  written by the keeper of the church regarding this ancient building. The letters also show what the English people  think of the sacrifices made by the Australians in leaving their homes to help the Motherland. "You say you think a lot of your English home. You have no idea what we think of you, giving up your dear ones, and leaving all to help us in a war which, no doubt, is a righteous one, though terrible. I feel, like thousands of others, that we are just one big family linked together in   common interest, and with a deep sympathy which never could have been  so sincere were it not for our united trouble. We are proud of our Australian cousins. Australia surely sent her best. I often wish, when I take the boys over the church, I could have a little time to talk to them. It seems so official to be just a guide and then leave you. We English folk are poor at expression and somewhat reticent; but I assure you you are all beloved, and no prayers were ever more earnest than those which are offered for you."
