AND  Buckley-S-L-Chap-4th-Cl former Minister at St James, about

whom they had evidently forgotten!

CONCERT CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR FUND AIDED.

In aid of a fund to provide a honour board in St. James' Church of of England, Moonee Ponds, an enjoyable concert was given in the Puckle street Hall on Tuesday evening. As a result of counter attractions, the attendance was not large, but the programme contained some excellent items and encores were the order of the evening. The Rev. W. E. Ramshaw, in moving a vote of thanks to the artists and committee of management explained that the audience present did not nearly represent the number of tickets sold for the entertainment, which he hoped would provide the nucleus of a fund which would prove worthy of St. James' boys now fighting for the freedom of the world in France and Palestine. The church choir rendered several part songs, and a quartette party creditably sang "To Sylvia," "Sweet and Low," and other concerted pieces. Miss Clarke's pleasing voice was heard to advantage in "'Rosebuds," for which she received a recall, and other favourite songs, and Miss Trevillian also secured encores for her items. The elocutionary efforts of Miss Nance McClelland were heartily received, her selections including "Hello!" "In the Usual. Way," and other well-selected recitals. Mr. Ben Hobby was thoroughly at home in several good songs, well sung, "Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes" being among his most successful efforts. Mr. Charles Fletcher was encored for his successful songs, including "The Windmill." Master Georgee Hayes gave an amusing recital, and Mr. N. B. Harrison's humorous songs and sketches tickled the risible faculties of the audience and provided a pleasant variety to the programme, while Mr. W. Prewett was recalled for a tasteful cornet solo. Excellent accompaniments were supplied by Miss Viola Jager and Mr. Chas. Lilley. Miss Vera Pinkstone, who had contracted a cold, was unfortunately unable to appear at the concert.
