T. C. MACAW enlisted on 1st March and embarked as Driver in 22nd A.A.S.C. on 3rd June 1916. He arrived in France on 26th November 1916 and took part in operations there till August 1917 when he was sent to Hazebrouck and to Cambridge for training for his commission which he received on 1st December 1917. He was transferred to 33rd Battalion and took part in further operations in France and Belgium from December 1917 to Armistice with 3rd Division throughout. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 12th April 1918 and, having returned to Australia on 30th April, his appointment was terminated on 14th June 1919.
