Lieutenant F. O. Rogers was a fellow subaltern with Lieutenant Chapman (killed) in the Essendon rifles. He was gazetted a second lieutenant in the expeditionary forces on August 24, 1914. He is 20 years of age, and his relatives reside at Ascot Vale.

LIEUT. F. O. ROGERS.  

 

In reply to a cable message from his parents, of Bank street east, Ascotvale, Lieutenant Frank O. Rogers (who was severely wounded in two places) has replied:--"Don't worry. In Alexandria Hospital for another month."

The many friends of Lieut. F.O. Rogers will be pleased to learn that the latest advices state that he is recovering from his wounds.

 

From the Melbourne High School Newsletter, September 1915.

 

News has been received that Gunner Robert Rogers, of the Machine Gun Section, 29th Batt., 8th Infantry Brigade, has arrived safely in Egypt. His brother, Lieut. F. O. Rogers, of the 7th Battalion, who was severely wounded in the landing at Gallipoli, is returning, and expects to land very soon for 3 months' furlough. Both brothers are members of the Essendon Rifles.

Rationing Official's Death

 

BRISBANE, May 8. - The. Deputy Director of Rationing in Queensland Mr. Frank O. Rogers) died suddenly In Brisbane today at the age of 65.

 

With the easing of rationing, Mr. Rogers was waiting word of his transfer back to Melbourne, because his health had not been the best for some time. He went to the Rosemount Hospital for medical treatment today, but collapsed in the waiting room. He was taken to the Greenslopes Military Hospital, where he was admitted, and died shortly afterwards.

 

Mr. Rogers had been associated with the Rationing Department since its inception, having been seconded from the Taxation Department.

 

He was married twice. He leaves, a widow, a son and a daughter and two sisters in Melbourne. His father is still living in Sydney.
